Easy Kids Hike in Snow Canyon State Park

May 28, 2020

IMG_0069 copyIMG_9963IMG_0122We ventured on a new hike in Snow Canyon recently and I’m shocked that we’ve never been there before! It was so easy for kids, has a great slot canyon to explore, an overlook with a gorgeous view of the park AND we saw a desert turtle! The hike is called Jenny’s Canyon and I’m definitely adding it to our list of favorite kid friendly hikes in St. George.

Seven Magic Mountains

August 5, 2018

We made a quick pit stop on our way to California to visit 7 Magic Mountains! We’ve passed them so many times and figured we better stop at least once! Plus, we had it on our bucket list this summer so it was fun to check it off our list! It was a fun start to our family vacation – and made for a great game of hide and go seek to get out the wiggles! (Side note: there’s no bathroom so stop in Jean instead. 😉

Pizzeria Limone Giveaway!

October 26, 2016

In the past, I’ve posted about a few of my favorite things to do in Utah -like this gorgeous hike, our favorite camping trip, things to do in Southern Utah, and a weekend getaway idea. If you were to ask me where to eat in Utah, I’d have two words for you:

Pizzeria Limone.
Flash back a few years ago. We were kind of behind on our pizza game. Cheap, hot and ready pizzas were our jam. Until the day our lives changed forever. We were continually getting recommendations from friends and family about this AMAZING pizza place and while we were skeptical, one weekend we decided to try it out.
And that weekend will forever go down in history as the day we found the best pizza in Utah.
Serious.
We probably hit up this place a few times a month – it’s that good. We’ve mentioned Pizzeria Limone here on the blog and on instagram before and we’re SUPER excited to be teaming up with them today for a G-I-V-E-A-W-A-Y.
You can enter over HERE. Good luck, fellow pizza lovers!
XOXO

Summerfest

June 16, 2016

Last weekend, we tagged along with our good friends to Orem Summerfest. Brian and I had never been in all the years we’ve lived here, and I’ve been wanting to hit up a summer fair. It’s been on our unofficial summer bucket list. 🙂 Though it was a little rainy, we braved it anyway, and I’m so glad we did! Ellie was beyond thrilled to be reunited with her bff…it had been two very long days since we had seen her last! 😉 The girls were inseparable all night long. We seriously cannot get over how cute they are together. We enjoyed some good food, some crazy rides, and an evening full of laughter. We ended the night on the baseball field with a bag of kettle corn watching the best firework show I’ve ever seen. Three cheers for summer!

School’s Out!

May 27, 2016

School’s out for summer! Ellie had her last day of preschool last week and this week, her cousins finished up, too! We celebrated with a hike up Battle Creek Falls and chocolate donuts, of course. Excited for a summer full of adventures outside! And also, THREE DAY WEEKEND. Glorious!! Crossing my fingers that our children will sleep this weekend, because man alive, we have some catching up to do. Apparently living in college housing makes them think they’re on the college sleep schedule, too. 😉 HA!  Happy adventuring! xo
^^ Rebecca’s face! Too cute! ^^
^^ Can’t wait to go back when it’s a little warmer so we can jump in that water! ^^
^^ Sporting Ellie’s hat, haha ^^

And of course, a little video of our cousin adventure. 🙂

Spring Adventure

May 2, 2016

If you know Ellie, you know she’s always up for an “a-venture!” A few weeks ago, we decided to brave the April showers and head to our favorite local garden spot for a picnic. I wish I had a video of Ellie’s excitement, you’d think I just told her we were headed to Disneyland! She carefully packed up her backpack with all the essentials – our picnic lunch, bubbles, umbrella, and of course, a princess crown. We rarely leave the house these days without that princess crown – either atop her head or tucked safely in her backpack.

We ventured around the gardens for a bit, stalked a goose for a picture, smelled every flower, swatted away a few bees, and when Ellie and Addie were getting hungry, we all sat down for a little lunch. Easter just about did us in with all that sugar, so we’ve hidden the rest of the Easter candy on the top shelf of the pantry so a certain three year old can’t find get into it. 😉 Ellie helped pick out everything we brought to our picnic – a turkey/roastbeef sandwich with veggies, cut up apple slices, a few veggie straws, and our favorite, Capri Sun Organic juice drink. (With no added sugar, artificial coloring, and contains one serving of fruit in each pouch – Each pouch provides 1/2 cup fruit juice which is one serving of fruit according to the U.S. Dietary Guidelines, they’re a must have for every picnic!)

We finished our garden adventure rolling the stroller through the mud (oops!), Addie snuggled up in the stroller ready for a nap, and Ellie telling me how she wishes she was a bee so she “could fly in flowers too.” Ha! The minute we loaded up the stroller in the trunk, and the girls in their car seats, it started to rain again. Nailed that outing! 😉

We found snow!

November 17, 2015

IMG_6289

…and by snow, I mean like a tiny patch of snow on the side of the road. But to Ellie, it was a magical winter wonderland! Last weekend, we spent a quick night up in Park City. On the outside, it wasn’t super grand. We spent hours playing in the pool and spent an entire morning throwing tiny snowballs. Nothing fancy, but it was one of those wonderful, simple memories I want to bottle up forever.

^^ Oh Addie girl did not like that hat! Ha! ^^

^^ Probable cause of the hat displeasure. Gotta grow into that hat Addie girl! 😉 ^^

^^ Building snowman and Ellie couldn’t be more thrilled. ^^

^^ Olaf…complete with smarty eyes and a veggie straw nose! ^^

^^ Man, I love those blue, blue skies! And that little adventurous girl. ^^

^^ About to get pelted by a snowball. Ha! Such a perfect little weekend with my crew. ^^

Heyyy Park City!

October 27, 2015

park city trip (4)

Happy week of Halloween! I’m trying not to eat ten tons of candy, but guys, it’s so hard! I swear, that chocolate is calling me by name! 😉 Ellie has her costume all ready, and Addie…well I’m sure hers will be whipped up the morning of Halloween because that’s just how I’m rolling these days. Procrastination at it’s finest! I wish I had a few festive Halloween photos to share, but like I said, procrastination. 😉 Instead, while sorting through my oh so full memory card, I found these photos from our spontaneous trip to Park City last month. The weekend of Ellie’s birthday, we decided to take a little family trip…forty five minutes away! Ha! It was the perfect little getaway in the sunshine. Ellie and Brian rode the Alpine Slide (and loved every minute of it!), we swam in the hotel pool, jumped on the king size bed, and Brian and I shopped while our two very worn out kiddos slept. We walked and hiked and walked some more and celebrated our little birthday girl. Ellie was dying to ride the trolley (thank you Daniel Tiger!), but it’s only open during skiing season, so looks like we’ll have to plan another little getaway this winter! 😉

Rocky Mouth Waterfall

September 10, 2015

It’s perfect hiking weather in Utah right now. Not too hot, not too cold, with a hint of fall in the air. On Labor Day we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the mountains. Ok, ok, this wasn’t quite the mountains. It’s a gorgeous little trail nestled between humongous houses in Draper. (We saw one house for sale that had 3,500 sq. feet of GARAGE. Insane!) Ellie is totally in her element outdoors, so she was in absolute heaven. She hiked the whole way up and the whole way down and didn’t even want to stop to eat her fruit snack. (And let me tell you, she loves fruit snacks!) Addie must enjoy the outdoors as much as the rest of us do, because she slept soundly the entire way. Or she found it incredibly boring. One or the other. 😉

And….a quick little video. I’m still working on improving my videography skills (it was my New Year’s resolution and I’m finally getting around to it!) I’m no pro by any means, but man do I love having these short little video clips of our family at this stage in our life.

Splash Pads and Minivans

August 14, 2015

IMG_5729

Its Friday, its Friday, hooray! I’m still dreaming about our quick trip down to St. George last weekend. Addie was just over three weeks old and we decided we were ready for a little road trip! We were super excited because:

1. This was our first trip as a family of four
and 2. It was our very first trip in our MINIVAN!

Yes, you read that right, minivan! Most people that know me know of my (previous) disgust towards minivans. I was always apt to give my opinion on them whenever they came up in conversation. “You couldn’t pay me enough to drive one of those things!” I always said. And I was pretty set in my ways. Until last summer during our NYC trip. We borrowed a van to drive from upstate to the city and after sitting in the very back with Brian & Ellie (+Ellie’s large car seat) comfortably for 4+ hours, I was sold. Of course, I refused to admit this to anyone for some time (my pride! my pride!) but alas, here I am, eating my words. 😉 And now I’m one of those moms that raves about her minivan. Never say never, right? 🙂

Anyway, back to our road trip! It was a quick Friday night to Sunday afternoon kind of a trip. We kept it pretty low key: played in gramma’s backyard, make pizzas on the grill, Brian went golfing, and we all took Ellie to a splash pad or two! Grandma got to show off her newest grandbaby at church, Addie was as calm and quiet as ever, and Ellie was thrilled to have so much one on one attention all weekend long. You can see some pictures from our quick weekend below, plus a little video with a few of the clips we took as well. Last weekend was one for the books!

IMG_5643

^^ Afternoon at the splash pad. Addie was super content to be hanging out outside. ^^

IMG_5567IMG_5569

^^ Aunt Erin was out of town when Addie was born and finally got to meet her! We are super excited that she and Uncle Spenc are moving to college soon and will be so close! ^^

IMG_5762IMG_5959

^^ I can’t help but sniff her head a million times a day. Can I bottle up that baby smell, please!? ^^

IMG_5787

^^ This girl loves water! She was in heaven splashing around! ^^

^^ Best. Sandals. Ever. ^^
