Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas

June 10, 2019

Brian’s birthday is always right around Father’s Day (sometimes the same day!), so we do a lot of celebrating in June! I have a few tried & tested Father’s Day gift ideas that we’ve done in the past that I thought I’d share with you! You know, just in case you’re stumped on a gift, too! πŸ™‚

1. Loom Journals
These beautiful leather journals are perfect for parent & child! They have darling prompts, places to document memories and milestones, as well as cute drawing pages. They’re the perfect way to spend a little one-on-one time with your kids – and dad’s will love it too! You can use the code ALEXA15 for 15% off your order through June 23!

2. Photo Book
A few years ago, we ordered one of the Chabooks Father’s Day books and filled it with cute pictures of the girls and Brian. It’s a cute addition to our photo book collection and had pages for the girls to write little notes, too! If you don’t want to wait for shipping, these small spiral photo books from Walgreens are a super cute option! They’re available for same day pickup and easy for little hands to flip through with their dad!

3. Letter to Dad
If you have young kids, these Letters to Dad are the most adorable, simple gifts for Father’s Day! I always love to see the answers our kids come up with (and how old they think their dad is! πŸ˜‰ Printable can be found HERE.

4. The Classic Tie
My sister found these cute skinny ties on Amazon and we’ve been sold ever since! They come in multiple patterns and the best part? They’re only $10! (You can also get a pack of 4 for $23! Such a good deal and they’re good quality, too.)

BONUS! All About Dad Video
Last year I had our girls make THIS video for Brian for Father’s Day. I asked them all kinds of questions about their dad, and it was so cute! Such a fun way to freeze time and remember how little they were!

Don’t forget to include a cute card and maybe breakfast in bed, too!

Easy Father’s Day Printables!

May 30, 2019

If you’re like me, you’re usually flying by the seat of your pants trying to prep for Father’s Day the night before. This year, I’m getting prepared early, so Father’s Day morning can be easy peasy. Well, as easy as it can be making breakfast in bed with three little girls and attempting to get them looking presentable for church, too. Ha! πŸ™‚
Our Father’s Day gifts are typically pretty simple (socks + a tie, anyone?), but I always like to add a little something special. We always decorate the dining room and hang a banner on the mantle. To make things easy this year, I’ve created a Father’s Day printable bundle with everything we need to celebrate!
The bundle includes a TON of printable pages and the best part? It’s only $5 when you sign up! The printable Father’s Day bundle includes:
  •  8×10 and 5×7 art prints
  • Breakfast in bed menu and room service cards
  • Two Father’s Day card options
  • Patterned banner
  • Food toppers and straw flags
  • Badge for Dad
  • Gift Tags
  • And bonus kids activities for Dad and Grandpa
Grab your printable pages here!

Wishing you a calm, easy Father’s Day morning with perfectly well behaved children and a breakfast that doesn’t burn. πŸ˜‰ xo Alexa

Disneyland Hacks – How to Save on Food in Disneyland!

May 14, 2019

Last year we splurged on Annual Disneyland Passes and oh my goodness, we had so much fun! We learned a few Disneyland hacks and I’m excited to share them here. Food is always SO expensive in the parks, but we found a few ways to save some money yet still enjoy some treats along the way!

Eat Breakfast Before You Go
Stay at a hotel that offers free breakfast or bring breakfast stuff with you to your hotel. We’ve stayed at several hotels and THIS one has the best breakfast by far! Hot waffles, fruit, pastries, lots to choose from. (Be sure to research what “free breakfast” means at each hotel – sometimes it’s just a yogurt.)

Pack a Lunch
Disneyland will let you bring in a soft cooler (we have a cooler tote bag like this!), so we pack a lunch every day we go! We got these rubbermaid containers that work great for lunch trays. Typically, we pack the girls (and ourselves) a peanut butter sandwich, grapes or apple slices and cubes of cheese. We’ll also bring along juice boxes for meals (and it saves money so we don’t have to buy them at the park!)

Bring Snacks
We always pack snacks with us! Typically, we leave them in the stroller and the kids can grab one before we hop in another line. Our favorite snacks are: granola bars, protein bars, peach cups, gold fish, pretzels, animal crackers, grapes, apples, carrots, cheese sticks, fruit snacks, fruit leathers, gogurts, or popcorn. We like to use THESE snack size bags, to make them easier to hold for smaller hands – and if they spill, it’s less of a mess!

Don’t Forget Treats!
Disneyland has so many amazing treats – and we always like to try one or two while we’re there. Since we bring in all our snacks, and lunches, and drinks, I don’t mind splurging on one treat for the kids a day. They love the “Tigger Tails” and “Chershire Cat Tails” over in the Pooh Corner (a huge chocolate and caramel covered marshmallow with sprinkles!) If you don’t want to splurge on too many treats, we’ve brought in a few of our own before. We’ll bring in our own kettle corn, it saves us from buying the expensive stuff (that smells SO good).

(this is HALF the Monte Cristo sandwich!)

Share Dinners
Most of the food at sit down restaurants is $20-$30, and other quick stops are $10-$15 a plate. We always like to share our plates to cut down on the cost. If you’re in New Orleans square, share the Monte Cristo Sandwich. It’s worth the hype (and the cost) and can easily feed Brian and I. It could probably feed our entire family if we could get the girls to eat it. πŸ˜‰ The soup and bread bowls are huge! And if you’re going with a larger crowd, consider buying the whole pizza (usually around $40-$50) instead of buying buy the slice ($10!).

Bring Drinks!
We always bring our own refillable water bottles and water bottles for the kids. You can refill them with filtered water at any of the Baby Centers, or fill them up at the soda machines in any of the restaurants. Also, right outside the Mexican restaurant El Rancho, is a great filtered water station! We refill there every time. If you like soda – consider bringing your own in. A soda cup will run you $3+, but my husband (who loves soda) will bring in his own 2 liter (insert face palm emoji) and refill his insulated water bottle throughout the day. πŸ˜‰ This is why he can outlast us all!

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Newport Beach 2018!

August 5, 2018

We just got back from an amazing family trip to Newport Beach. We’ve never been to Newport but now I’m a huge fan! It was beautiful and sunny and the town was adorable. Not to mention we found a good priced beach house Air Bnb so the beach was a stone’s throw away. That was really nice with kids!
It’s fun to see how much our family has grown in the last few years. Now two of the siblings are married and there’s FOUR grandkids! We had a great time just chilling on the beach, eating Noah’s bagels, boogie boarding, watching the dolphins and keeping the babies from eating sand. The sunburn’s we are sustained aren’t as much fun, but I guess that’s the price you pay when you clock in HOURS at the beach. πŸ™‚
Matching since 2011 πŸ™‚
Attempted a “Baywatch” photo but we really just look like we’re trying to be zombie’s on the beach. Haha.
Ellie & Erin boogie boarding!
I have a similar picture to this one from when we were dating. Only difference is after I took that picture, I got pegged in the head with the frisbee. Happy to report no injuries with the making of this photo. πŸ™‚
Lots of mermaids!
Spent a lot of time wearing these adorable shades. Brian calls them my “teenager glasses.” πŸ˜‰

The girls were SO tired everyday after playing hard in the sun and the water.
Baby Charlotte! She’s just about six months and oh so adorable! (Those rolls!!)

Pretending I have model hair, not beachy, unwashed for a few days hair. πŸ˜‰
Spent a lot of time playing in the sand,
and swimming in the water,

and hanging out with cousins.

It was one for the books! See ya next year Newport!

Seven Magic Mountains

August 5, 2018

We made a quick pit stop on our way to California to visit 7 Magic Mountains! We’ve passed them so many times and figured we better stop at least once! Plus, we had it on our bucket list this summer so it was fun to check it off our list! It was a fun start to our family vacation – and made for a great game of hide and go seek to get out the wiggles! (Side note: there’s no bathroom so stop in Jean instead. πŸ˜‰

We went to Paris!

May 7, 2018

Lucy and I tagged along on Brian’s business trip in March to…PARIS! We had so much fun – Paris is a dream! It was beautiful and artsy and absolutely amazing. Lots of photos to come, but for now here’s a video of some of my favorite places we visited! (And check out Lucy in all those snow suits! Haha)
