Placemats _1

The countdown is on – preschool starts in one week! Ellie’s backpack has been sitting by the door for about a month now, she’s dying to go to school! Ever since her summer camps at her school this summer, she’s been begging to go back every day. Preschool, here we come! We’ve been settling into a good morning routine, and that includes getting this girl to eat some breakfast! Ellie has been known to be a pretty picky eater 😉

To coax this girl into eating, variety is essential! One day Ellie will eat grapes just fine, the next day she’ll claim they are ‘”di-gusting!” I try to mix up what she eats for breakfast each day, even if that is simply rotating fruits or cereal. On special occasions, we’ll make cinnamon rolls, which seems to be the family favorite. (It was tradition growing up to have cinnamon rolls on the first day of school!) We recently picked up Dannon® Danimals® Smoothies to pair with our breakfast at home. (They also work great as an on-the-go option to fuel our daily adventures!) Plus, they contain “Only the Good Stuff®” with no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or colors, with a good source of calcium and vitamin D. I’ve found myself grabbing one for breakfast – they’re delicious!

To make our breakfasts a little more fun, we’ve invested in a few fun plates (the ones with the dividers are Ellie’s favorite!) and I printed off some back to school placemats. Ellie can choose her placemat for the day and it helps keep my table clean. 🙂 I had so much fun designing these back to school prints. I sent them in to my local office/copy store and had them printed as 11×17. (You can also have them laminated so they last longer!) You can download the placemat files HERE. (for personal use only, please!)

We purchased our Dannon® Danimals® Smoothies during a recent trip to Walmart (after the meltdown in aisle six and before the ten minutes we spent looking at the goldfish tanks – a typical shopping trip 🙂 In between tantrums and finding Nemo, I learned that 1: Dannon® Danimals® have teamed up with Play 60 to offer you a chance to win a Play60 Field Day for your school with NFL pros! Just find the “Golden Bongo” bottle – located in specially marked packages. (More details here) And 2: the Cotton Candy/Strawberry flavor is available at select Walmart locations during the month of August only! (Cotton candy lovers unite!)

Do you have a picky eater? Please, tell me your tips and tricks!!

OH yum I forgot about danimals…totally had those growing up! So mine isn't as picky as she is slooowww and distracted when eating. So pretty much the thing that gets her to finish is I ask her if she's going to eat the rest and if she says no then I say "Okay I'll throw it away then" or "Okay then I'll eat it" and then she freaks out at the thought of that and finishes her food. haha

Love the placemats! So cute! Just keep trying on the picky eater part … I try to give variety and serve things in different ways so that maybe one of those ways will appeal to my littles. Sometimes serving something new with favorites works {try the new thing before you eat a favorite}. And we have the rule of you have to try everything on your plate, even if it is just a bite and you don't like it. Sometimes this whole picky eater thing is just a phase 🙂
