I’m not sure there’s an adequate way to describe the last few days. This Addie girl is a dreamboat! I still can hardly believe that she’s here! I have so much to write about – our fabulous hospital stay, Ellie and Addie’s sweet reunion, our comical first night home…plus a plethora of photos to go along with each. My memory card is filling up so fast! You wouldn’t expect anything less, right?! 😉 Until then, here’s a quick update on our little family of FOUR.
ADDIE: Little Addison is an absolute angel. In the five days she’s been here, she’s barely made a peep! She eats like a champ, smiles in her sleep, and has proven to be a tough cookie around her older sister. 😉 I love getting up to feed her in the night, it makes for some quality one on one time, even if I am half asleep. She’s brought heaven into our home and we cannot imagine life without her! This week she’ll also have a quick checkup with the doctor. She dropped down to 6 lbs 4 oz at the hospital, so we’re hoping that she’s gained a little weight in the past few days.
ELLIE: Ellie has adjusted much better than I expected. She has been feversish since the day we got home – turns out she has a virus / sore throat. As much as we’ve tried to keep her germs away from baby Addie, she can’t stay away from her little sis for very long. She loves to ooh and aww over her tiny hands and feet and asks for her first thing in the morning. Every once in awhile though, she’ll tell me to pass baby Addie over to gram or dad so she can have mama to herself. True to her two year old nature, there have been some tantrums and thankfully Gram and dad have been here to swoop in and save the day. 🙂
ME: My recovery has been great thus far…so long as I’m keeping up on my meds. 🙂 With Brian and my mom helping out, I’ve been able to sneak in a nap every day with Ellie which has been oh so wonderful and oh so needed. I’m dying to get out, but I’ve been trying not to overdo it this time around. Due to cabin fever, this may be the week I try to get out and Baby Cubby is calling my name! Mom’s night out anyone? (More below!) Nursing has been awesome thus far (minus engorgement) I drink SO MUCH water and crave Fig Newtons during middle of the night feedings. Hence, the package on my nightstand. Also, I can sleep on my stomach again which has been GLORIOUS!
BRIAN: Brian is the man. He spent his time in the hospital brining me cup after cup of water and ice and midnight nursing snacks and hasn’t stopped since we’ve been home. He’s up in the middle of the night getting Ellie milk, taking her to the doctor, and dancing with her while she plays princesses. The diapers magically disappear and my floors have stayed swept. Between him and my mom, I haven’t had to step foot in the kitchen or lift a finger – my house has been kept sparkling clean.
THE FISH: The fish are technically part of our family and despite all odds they’re still alive. 😉 We kind of forgot to feed them last week since we were in the hospital, but lo and behold, 28 cent gold fish are resilient little fellas.
Speaking of getting out, if you’re in Utah and need a mom’s night out or simply need a treat, then you’ve got to attend this darling event at the Baby Cubby in Lindon. Ellie and I randomly popped into the store a week before Addie came and I fell in LOVE. I had been looking for a few newborn outfits that fit my style and Baby Cubby delivered. Pretty sure I could have walked away with everything in the store. (I had my eye on a few blankets and I think I need to go back!) On Tuesday July 21st from 6 – 9 p.m. Baby Cubby will be hosting a pop up shop featuring Taylor Joelle’s darling line of children’s clothing (located at 71 S. 1380 W. Lindon, UT 84042) Plus, there will be activities for the kids (free hair-dos and photo shoot), treats (yes, please), and a discount for you (10% off your purchase!) All event information can be found here.

She is so precious! And I love that little outfit–she's so tiny! My boy was never that little… Maybe I'll get lucky on #2 to have a petite little thing? I guess we'll see. 🙂 I'm so glad that everything seems to be going well. Take it easy and let your body heal–you've just created a human!
Little Addison! She is absolutely beautiful. It sounds like everyone is smitten!
Oh she's just so little and precious! Makes me miss the itty bitty-ness of mine! So glad everyone (fish included!) are surviving 🙂
