A few months ago I was called to work with the teenage girls in our church. Talk about a fun calling! The girls are absolute gems and so fun to teach. To introduce the theme for 2015, “O Ye That Embark,” we have a special evening called New Beginnings. The girls that will be turning twelve this year get to attend, as well as the rest of our Young Women, and their parents, too! We went with a cruise themed evening. The girls helped put together and plan out the program, food, and decor. Minus a few setbacks (like, hurry move everything from the gym to the Primary room! when we found out the gym was overscheduled), everything turned out amazing! Here’s a few photos from the evening (and for all you other Young Women leaders out there, I’ve included a free download to all the printables I made for the event! Check it out below!)
We pinned the girls boarding passes and name tags on an extra bulletin board. It worked out perfectly for them to find their name on the way in, then use that same pin to pin on their name tags. Each boarding pass had the evening’s itinerary and their starting point for each of the “ports” they would be attending. They were separated into different groups according to their boarding pass.
At one of our activities, the Beehives helped us tie together all these napkins and forks. The mint lifesaver was the perfect little touch!
All our centerpieces were different. Candles, cake stands, lanterns and pretty much whatever else we could find! I loved how unique each table looked, yet cohesive to the theme. Also, does the yellow chevron look familiar? 😉 Thank goodness for leftover wedding decor!
Our music leader had the idea of creating these CD’s for all the young women to put in our gift shop. I created the CD label and she put them all together. Ellie and I have been listening to it on repeat since we got ours! You can find all the songs (and download them for free!) here.
Along with the CD, the gift shop also included a little handout and these adorable bracelets. I believe we originally found the bracelets on Etsy, and one of our leaders was able to contact the owner (who’s local!) and talk her down on bulk price 😉
Last stop: the photo booth! I found the cruise themed photo booth props here on Etsy and we used simple streamers as our backdrop. It was a hit!
After spending so much time on designing these prints and posters, I’ve put them together in a free download, to save some of you time too! 🙂 This download includes:
-Invitation Page
-Welcome Aboard sign
-Boarding Pass + Itinerary Page
-Photo booth & Gift Shop signs
-CD Label
-Name Tags Page
-Handout with anchor quote
-Wall Art + Posters
These printables are available as PDFs and JPGs in a zipped file. Simply download, extract the files, and enjoy! Please remember that these files are for personal/church use only. They may not be altered in any way* or shared with others via email, etc. Instead, please direct them to download the files here on the original post. Thanks!
